Sunshine Coast Blues Club
Royal George Hotel

Currie St Nambour
1st Thursday of the month
Since the first meeting at the Royal George Hotel in Feb 06 , the Sunshine Coast Blues Club has provided members & visitors with a simple & successful recipe. The regular audience is always there by 8pm to see the Blues Club “House Band” start the night with a set of blues favourites. Al Hensley (piano) & Bob Lee (double bass) enjoy the opportunity to present some lesser known & seldom performed blues to a receptive audience. Al’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the blues, plus his willingness to share his knowledge, makes each performance an education for club members. The house band is rounded out with Aaron Giffin on guitar, Joanne Lee on drums & Fabio Brecciaroli joining in on blues harp.
The Nambour Blues Club has quietly established itself as a welcome event on the first Thursday of each month. The combination of dependable quality music from the house band & the regular performers, plus the unexpected & surprising contributions from guest jammers, makes for a great night of Blues in Nambour.

With special Guest Andrew Lawson - X Factor Finalist
Hit-makers come and go in the fickle world of popular music, but Leo Sayer is a stayer, a powerhouse performer who is still captivating audiences globally after 40 years.

To celebrate four decades in the music business Leo will be touring throughout 2011 taking his musical party around Australia, Asia and New Zealand. This show will be a look back over Leo’s 40-year journey that has seen him win a Grammy, fill stadiums around the globe with his concerts and ride a wonderful roller coaster of career highs and lows in the crazy world of the music industry. Leo has come out smiling with energy and enthusiasm to burn.

Leo Sayer has sold millions of albums around the world and has had 20 worldwide top ten hits during his career, many of these self-penned, and he continues to entertain audiences with an amazing live show featuring his uniquely powerful and recognisable voice.  Since his first tour down under in the early 70’s Leo fell in love with Australia and in 2009 became an Australian citizen.

Leo Sayer is truly an amazing character. Some say one of the greatest pop voices of our time. His songs are played constantly in all corners of the globe on a daily basis. At 62 years of age, and with no signs of slowing down, his voice is as strong as it has ever been. His creativity is constantly flowing, fuelled by his boyish enthusiasm and love of music and the art of creating music. He is often working in the studio he built in his house, recording and writing new songs for an album that he will be releasing next year.

Leo Sayer’s 40th Anniversary Concert Tour will feature all his hits including You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, Thunder In My Heart, When I Need You, One Man Band, Long Tall Glasses and many more. This last play, written by William Shakespeare is a romantic comedy of epic proportions. In our production, we have taken the liberty of updating slightly and adding a few morsels of folly to entertain and delight.  The Bard himself would be amused and pardon our modifications.

Italy 1822, the Duke of Milan, Prospero is usurped by his brother, Antonio.  A kindly and wise Lord,  Gonzalo, assists Prospero to escape with his young daughter, Miranda. The play begins on a magical island circa 1835. Prospero, who had been usurped by his brother Antonio 12 years earlier, creates a huge tempest with the help of Ariel and her Sirens.

The revenge begins!

On board are the King, Queen and their son, Ferdinand as well as several Lords including Antonio.
The story unfolds just as Prospero had envisioned.  As the shipwrecked passengers and crew wander the island, the betrayal is mysteriously revealed. While in another part of the island, Prospero with his spirited Ariel, have brought Ferdinand and Miranda together.  Their love blossoms while on another part of the island, the drunken butler and mischievous court jester have discovered the Calibans. They have been banished to a corner of the island by Prospero and his powerful magic where they live a rancorous life of servitude.

After tormenting the travellers, Prospero draws them together and forgives them for their cruel deeds. The play ends joyously as families unite and love prevails/triumphs.

Enjoy a groovy night out in Nambour ON THE LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH, eat, drink, shop & browse & be entertained! It’s got a really great vibe.
Come & try the new Nambour…you’ll love our new magical outdoor gathering place under the moonlight.

Chillorado - LIVE at the Nambour Moonlight Markets, 29 July, 5pm - 9pm

Nambour is fast becoming a hot bed for live music with emerging artists and die hard musos alike vying to play for the pumping crowd at the monthly moonlight markets.

The Black Sorrows were the first to really set the ball rolling when they launched the new town square at Nambour Alive in 2009, then Phil Emmanuel wowed crowds in January who no doubt still have his electric sound reverberating in their ears.

Chillorado are the next name music act and the star attraction for the 29 July moonlight market - founder Kit Cotter said he can’t wait.

Nambour has long been one of his favourite haunts on the Sunshine Coast. Kit has actually just moved here & says the people are fantastic and it’s one of the rare places where you still find a private oasis hidden away in the hills.

Chillorado are looking forward to supporting the Moonlight Market, which seems to be one of the best nights on the Coast’s live music calendar.

Chillorado will be playing an eclectic selection of Latin-jazz, with some of their own compositions mixed in.
Market Coordinator Helen Langlois said as usual, anyone coming to the market can enjoy an unrivalled selection of international and home spun cuisine, a fantastic range of market stalls and great wine.

“It’s a fun and entertaining night for all the family and really does have something for everyone," Ms Langlois said.

Entry to the markets is free, however a gold coin donation is appreciated. The markets are held in Lowe Street, Nambour, the last Friday of every month from 5pm. All market & stall enquiries contact Helen Langlois 0416 217 093.
