Sat 6 Mar
Pacific Ford’s GT Day
with special guest Allan Moffat
Pacific Ford Showroom
Sugar Rd, Maroochydore
10am to 3pm
If you have ever wanted to climb behind the wheel or look under the bonnet of a genuine 1970 XW GTHO Phase II, then rock up to Pacific Ford’s GT Day.
Up to 80 Ford muscle cars will be on show, spanning the car maker’s more than 40 years from the 1967 XR GT Falcon which is said to have started the endless rivalry between Ford & Holden.
Meet Ford racing legend Allan Moffat who will be the biggest drawcard of the day, signing autographs from 1pm right next to his 1970 Bathurst-winning XW GTHO Phase II.
He was Ford’s rival to Holden driving king Peter Brock & they battled on the Bathurst mountain in some of the most powerful Australian cars ever built.
The rarest muscle car ever built in Australia, the 1972 XA Falcon Phase IV, is only one of three-and-a-half ever built & it will be on display at the GT show as well.
Show organiser and Pacific Ford salesman Bruce Simpson said Holden responded to the release of Ford’s first muscle-car with their HK Monaro.
“And it’s evolved into this super car battle – it was the first Australian muscle car and the GTHOs followed,” Mr Simpson said.

Instant Australian icons from the moment they rolled off the assembly line, these amazing vehicles enraptured a generation.
“When I was a kid, they were just brutal cars.
“They had a four-door sedan body & this hulking big engine. “As kids, they’d say, ‘Wow! Someone has a GT in the street’.
“It was uniquely Aussie & the coolest car to own.”
Mr Simpson predicts the latest Ford GTs would one day become iconic cars in their own right as the classic and powerful muscle car fell out of fashion.
“I think the current crop of GTs will be as collectable (as the classic GTs) in 20 to 30 years,”
“We’re now in the sunset of the golden age of performance.”

Toni Childs
In Concert
Supported by Bobby Flynn

The Events Centre
20 Minchinton Street Caloundra
8pm to 10.30pm

Back by popular demand, three time Grammy nominee Toni Childs is heading to Australia for an encore live national tour. Toni Childs performed a string of sell-out shows in Australia earlier this year and will once again be thrilling audiences with her signature husky vocals and emotive lyrics.

The upcoming tour sees Toni performing her blockbuster hits, as well as showcasing her latest hit album Keep The Faith. The songs from this emotionally hard-hitting album are a blend of roots, rock, folk and gospel songs. Toni’s tour earlier this year demonstrated to audiences the enormous soul and vision she is famous for.

Best known for her heavily R&B influenced Dont Walk Away, Toni Childs hit the big time in 1988 when her critically acclaimed debut album Union went Double Platinum in Australia, selling 200,000 albums. The same year she was nominated for three Grammys, including Best New Artist. Her second album, House of Hope went three times platinum and in 1997, the release of Many Rivers to Cross caused her Greatest Hits album to go five times platinum, selling over 500,000 albums.

In 2008, Toni Childs also launched a new body care range, Feminine Mysteries, which is inextricably linked to her Keep The Faith album. It also encourages people to connect, heal and transform the world through love.

Living on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, Toni has spent the last eight years recovering from the Graves Disease she was diagnosed with in the summer of 1997. Overcoming her battle with this rare stress disorder, she recently came back from her musical exile giving fans so much more than they might ever have expected.

With a talent for picking the mood of the times, Toni Childs seems determined to go beyond affirming her role as an important voice of inspiration for an entirely new generation to explore the zeitgeist defining theme of global connection.

Angus and Julia Stone will once again grace our stages in March when they hit the road on their national tour!
The last 3 years have been a whirlwind for brother and sister duo, Angus & Julia Stone. Their debut album ‘A Book Like This’ released in 2007 glided easily in to the hearts of Australians. It debuted top 10 on the national ARIA album chart and maintained a spot in the top 100 for over a year. In 2008 it earned Angus and Julia 6 ARIA award nominations and reached platinum sales status.
The duo with their band, have travelled around the world from the cold Scottish Highlands to the warm desert towns of the USA. Have had songs feature on TV ads from Korea to Scandanavia and have appeared on Festivals throughout the world including SXSW in Texas, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Latitude in London. All this international touring successfully expanded the bands audience, with their MySpace plays now exceeding 5 MILLION !!!
The new single ‘And The Boys’ has been enjoying high rotation on Triple J, is released today and comes with two bonus tracks ‘Change’ and ‘Take You Away’ when purchased through the iTunes store. The track was co-produced by Angus & Julia with Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright) and is the first taste of new material from their forthcoming sophomore album ‘Down The Way’. The lyrics inspire joy gained from lost love and it takes you from darkness to light with it driving drum beat, beautiful touches of melatron and moog behind the acoustic guitars and dancing piano and bass. La Ronde
Sensual, Bohemian, R-Rated Drama
Evening Performances:
Thu 25, Fri 26, Sat 27 Mar
+ Thu 1, Fri 2, Sat 3 April at 7.30pm
Matinee: Sun 28 Mar at 2pm
Noosa Arts Theatre
Noosa Arts Theatre brings to the Sunshine Coast, a sensual, seductive & scandalous Adults Only production of the classic play, La Ronde.
La Ronde is R-Rated & a little risqué. In various states of undress, the characters dance through a series of sexual encounters, of which we see just ten in succession.
La Ronde will delight & disturb.
Think Burlesque but expect a deeper look into human intent, emotion & deception. Think sophisticated entertainment with a razor sharp edge.
Think dark & delicious new theatre.

In its original form, La Ronde was banned & its playwright, Arthur Schnitzler, jailed; the material was simply too scandalous for the European audiences of the early 20th century.
What about for contemporary Sunshine Coast audiences? Director, Sam Coward doesn’t seem to think so. Well known for challenging his actors & audiences, Sam says La Ronde is just as current, as relevant & as revealing an insight into class structure & society’s attitudes towards sex as it has always been.
Director, Sam Coward has an enviable record in bringing to the Coast cutting edge theatre which thrills audiences. His production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1999 broke all box office records on the Sunshine Coast & audiences responded enthusiastically to his production of Shout.

“The overall aesthetic will be gritty, bohemian, French & a touch absurd,” says Sam.

La Ronde has an accomplished local cast that includes Tim Murfin, Stephen Moore, Carly Partridge, Mary Eggleston, Xanthe Coward, Shane Ross, Sharon Grimley, Kay Ellsum, Meg Monroe & Nathan Hynes.
The play is for people over 18 & contains some nudity & sexual themes.
Tickets: Adult $26, Concession $22, Groups $20. Bookings 5449 9343 or online at www.noosaartstheatre.org.au or Wed to Sat at theatre 9-12 noon.

ROCKWIZ LIVE SHOW

Nambour Civic Centre - Main Hall
Currie St Nambour
RocKwiz Live Show
FIRST EVER LIVE NATIONAL TOUR of AUSTRALIA!
It had to happen! Dugald is breaking the RocKwiz team out of the confines of the Gershwin Room and bumping them into a Live Australian Tour!
Mistress of ceremonies Julia Zemiro; firm but fair co-host Brian Nankervis; the legendary RocKwiz Orkestra and Dugald (with mystery guests in tow) will be touring live for the first time ever in the shows five year on-air history! It will be just like you see on your tellie every Saturday night on SBS - but this time, so close you can smell them!
This incredible live tour of AFI Award winning RocKwiz's witty and exciting music trivia show will be purely for the pleasure of the local audiences who are lucky enough to catch it on stage. These shows are not for broadcast, which is all the more reason that each is a not-to-be-missed live event!
Since first screening in January 2005, RocKwiz has become SBS's Saturday night staple for the stay at home crowd. Now in its seventh series, the ground-breaking program has presented over 200 Australian and international musical recording and touring artists, some legends and some performing live on TV for the first time. There have been over 400 music trivia tragics plucked from the Gershwin Room audience and given their 30 minutes of geeky glory.

RocKwiz is unique and exciting television, cleverly blending live music performances with engaging chat and music trivia questions. In an era where there are precious few opportunities to see live music performances on prime time TV, RocKwiz rates as the best of them by making the music the star of the show. This happens right from the kick-off where both guest artists are asked to sing their own songs before the serious questioning begins. Each episode climaxes when the guests duet on a classic song with the RocKwiz Orkestra to produce a unique, one-off musical moment and sometimes the most unlikely pairing will deliver the most magical performance. RocKwiz clearly loves and respects all forms of music - pop, rock, soul, roots, country and alternate/indie acts have all found a welcome, open door at RocKwiz.

Willie (Rocky Mackenzie), who lives in Broome, loves beautiful Rosie (Jessica Mauboy) but can’t bring himself to approach her. Willie’s mother sends him off to a boarding school in Perth run by strict Father Benedictus (Geoffrey Rush) – but Willie runs away and heads for home accompanied by his uncle (Ernie Dingo).

Rachel Perkins’ exuberant adaptation of the 1990 stage musical is a lot of fun, despite the fact that it has a rather insipid hero. The energetic staging of the musical numbers is just one of the engaging elements in a film filled with unexpected delights, such as the performances of Missy Higgins and Deborah Mailman, who are both excellent.
