Sunshine Coast Blues Club
Royal George Hotel

Currie St Nambour
1st Thursday of the month
Since the first meeting at the Royal George Hotel in Feb 06 , the Sunshine Coast Blues Club has provided members & visitors with a simple & successful recipe. The regular audience is always there by 8pm to see the Blues Club “House Band” start the night with a set of blues favourites. Al Hensley (piano) & Bob Lee (double bass) enjoy the opportunity to present some lesser known & seldom performed blues to a receptive audience. Al’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the blues, plus his willingness to share his knowledge, makes each performance an education for club members. The house band is rounded out with Aaron Giffin on guitar, Joanne Lee on drums & Fabio Brecciaroli joining in on blues harp.
The Nambour Blues Club has quietly established itself as a welcome event on the first Thursday of each month. The combination of dependable quality music from the house band & the regular performers, plus the unexpected & surprising contributions from guest jammers, makes for a great night of Blues in Nambour.

Buderim Mountain State School Spring Carnival Fete
on the oval
Main St, Buderim
2pm to 7pm

Set aside the whole afternoon on November 5 from 2pm right through till 7pm for the Buderim Mountain State School Spring Carnival 2011.
Just think what you’ll be missing out on if you don’t come - chocolate fudge, fairy floss, second hand treasures, and of course - the rides!!

If you have a hankering for home made chocolate fudge or just need a really good spin on the Scrambler or perhaps The Roundup to blow out the cobwebs, keep Saturday 5 November free. Buderim Mountain State School are having another of their good old fashioned fetes. Bring the kids along and spend the afternoon hooking into the fudge and coconut ice.  Test your scream factor on the assortment of rides, rummage through the second hand stall, try your hand at some of the games at sideshow alley, and shock your granny with a hair colour change.

There’s plenty of food and drinks to keep you going, and entertainment for when you just need a good sit to recover. It all kicks off at 2pm and goes right through the afternoon ending up with a brilliant fireworks display kindly sponsored by Investa. And at the end of the day - what better way to finish off a great family fun day than with a bang, when our fantastic firework finale colours the night sky.

Have yourself a great day and help the school out at the same time - what a winner!!!
See you there!!

Christmas Tree Trail
Various venues - Sunshine Coast Communities

Council’s annual Christmas Tree Trail is bigger and better than ever and the community is invited to celebrate the official launch of the festive season on Wednesday 23 November at Mooloolaba.

These are not your average Christmas trees - they range in size and species - from fabulous Figs to pretty Paperbarks, and each will have a unique set of dazzling decorations.

The trail began two years ago when council spoke with Sunshine Coast communities about how they celebrate Christmas and what they’d like to see in their region to mark the occasion. Resoundingly, locals asked for Christmas trees to be displayed in places where everyone could enjoy them.

Environmentally friendly Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting features across all of the trees, keeping with council’s vision for the Sunshine Coast to be Australia’s most sustainable region - vibrant, green and diverse.

And for the first time, council will use new scan-code technology to enable passersby to download the story behind the tree with a simple swipe of their iphones and smart phones.
