WEEK 3

Wed 12 Oct
Both Barrels Music & Westside Talent present
Kevin Bloody Wilson
Excess All Areas Tour 2011
Buderim Tavern
Burnett St Buderim

The Kevin Bloody Wilson Show is not just a concert performance, for most, it’s a full-on event! And an opportunity to tick from your bucket-list a chance to see Australia’s most unique International comedy legend.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His recently released biography DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson is a raucous, earthy, in depth look at perhaps one of the only Australian Comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.

Kevin Bloody Wilson’s story is remarkable. He has become a part of Australian Culture, a part of who we are and how we define ourselves. His DILLIGAF attitude is a quality to be envied.

He’s been listed in Who’s Who, his entire body of work has been preserved for future generations with the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra and his fan base stretches from Broken Hill to Buckingham Palace.

It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson. His peers agree;
‘The world’s funniest Australian’€? ...Billy Connolly
‘I love Kev. My favourite is Livin’ Next Door To Alan’...Paul Hogan
‘Hello John, is the funniest song I’ve ever heard in my entire radio career’...? John Laws

Kevin Bloody Wilson is also the only international artist who can shift seamlessly between an outback pub to the hallowed halls of the London Palladium. Hot on the heels of sellout South African tour, where his average audience exceeded 2000, Kev is now heading back to Australia to recharge his batteries.

His record sales are now nudging the four million mark. Without traditional media support, all of Kevin Bloody Wilson’s albums and DVDs have achieved Gold Sales status globally, with many reaching Platinum, and one, ‘Kev’s Back’, awarded an amazing quadruple Platinum. Kev’s recordings can be found in such diverse locations as Outback Australia to Antarctica. From Big-Rig road trains to the console of Prince Charles’ Aston Martin.

It seems ironic that twenty-five years ago, Kevin Bloody Wilson was being arrested for performing his songs in public, yet on Australia Day in January 2010, he was officially nominated for Australian Of The Year for doing exactly the same thing.

Well done Kev, you’ve done us proud.

As decent Australians who believe in a fair go for all, we hope you don’t simply accept this and other such myths, but that you’re interested instead in making an informed and balanced judgement on these issues.

If so, you now have a rare opportunity to hear from a distinguished panel of experts. The panel comprises prominent lawyer - Julian Burnside AO QC, dedicated refugee advocates - Frederika Steen and Pamela Curr, experienced Brisbane journalist - Paul Syvret and amazing young refugee - Homa Forotan.
Come along and learn the facts and participate in a dynamic discussion with this respected panel.

WEEK 4

Wed 19 Oct
Oh, What a Night!
Nambour Civic Centre Main Hall
8pm
Direct from Las Vegas & touring Australia during October

Oh What a Night! is a musical tribute to Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons -  an exciting musical revue written by Independent Motown producer and creative consultant George Solomon, and award-winning producer/director Michael Chapman with choreography by Paul Holmquist.

While the smash hit Jersey Boys is a scripted musical biography of the group, Oh What A Night! is a loving concert and tribute, which features all the original hits as well as several top 10 releases not in Broadway's Tony Award-winning hit. This includes Frankie Valli's biggest solo hit from the blockbuster film Grease! Between the score of recognisable songs, Oh What A Night! delivers informative and often hilarious banter between our stellar, high-spirited cast. Fans of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons will surely want to see Jersey Boys as well as Oh What A Night!

To this day Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons' unique and irresistible music continues to thrill all ages. The personable cast of Oh What A Night! stay true to the original recordings without trying to mimic or impersonate the group. And their interpretation of these classic hits are so true to the original recordings that it must be pointed out that the cast is singing live and not lip-syncing. The end result is a show as fresh and relevant today as it is nostalgic for the purists. The audience gets to know and love the four dynamic talents and cheer them on with each exciting, individual performance.

"Sherry", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Walk Like A Man", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "My Eyes Adored You", "Working My Way Back To You", "Let's Hang On" and "Who Loves You" are just some of the many hits you'll from the dynamic songbook of those boys from Jersey, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

This exhilarating musical revue has been thrilling audiences with great choreography, boundless energy, humour and, of course, instantly recognisable classic pop songs that make this show indeed.....Oh What A Night!

Fri 28 Oct
Day for Daniel
Australia Wide
Our National Day of Action Keeping Children Safe

You are invited to join with us in a day which focuses on Child Safety Awareness.

Now in its 6th year, Day for Daniel continues to grow on a National scale and is recognised as Australia’s largest participation event of its type.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the tragic abduction and suspected murder of their 13 year old son Daniel in December 2003.

To promote the Foundation’s aims of making the world a safer place for our children, an annual awareness Day for Daniel is held, involving schools and local communities. In 2011 up to 500,000 school aged children are expected to participate on a local level.

A variety of activities are suggested and these range from:
a talk about internet safety in class, a presentation by a school-based police officer
completing an interactive educational program like Being Safety Smart
watching our DVD titled Foundation Red
or participate in a Community Walk.
These education activities are designed to provide life skills for children in a fun
and informative manner without the fear factor.

We encourage that a red flavour be incorporated in the day - a colour which links Daniel’s story in a discreet
way to the importance of Child Safety Education.

Day for Daniel is not a memorial day - it is a learning day for our Children.

So write in RED, draw & colour-in in RED, wear RED, display a RED ribbon, fly a RED balloon, eat RED food, have a RED morning tea & yes, you can drink RED cordial today!

Please support this initiative.

Nambour Aquatic Centre is gearing up for its first ‘dive-in’ movie experience of the summer – with a screening of the popular animated family comedy ‘YOGI BEAR’ (G)’ on Friday 28 October.

Nambour Aquatic Centre Manager Mark Branch says he’s excited to bring Yogi and Boo Boo and Jellystone Park to the big screen. “We grown-ups in the Swim Fit team are looking forward to the film as much as the kids,” Mark says.

“What better way to start the weekend than watching a fun family film under the stars or while you float!,” says Mark. “For those that don’t want to get wet, we have plenty of room to watch the movie on dry land,” he says.

The Nambour Aquatic Centre doors will open to moviegoers from 6pm, with the screening starting around 6.45pmish.

BYO floaties, noodles, lilos for the pool, or blanket, beanbag or chairs. Inflatable chairs and beanbags will be available for hire. Lifeguards will be on hand to assist with pool supervision.

“The cost is only $8 per person, and free for children under 3 years of age,” says Mark. “The price includes pool entry after 6pm”

Please note that all minors under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. No alcohol, food, or glass will be allowed into the centre. Food, drink and sausage sizzle will be available.

A bit about the movie…
Jellystone Park is celebrating its 100 anniversary, however it may be for the last time, because attendance is down and Mayor Brown wants to close the park and sell the land. If the park is closed, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo will lose their home. They join forces with Ranger Smith to save Jellystone from closing forever. Yogi must really prove that he is "smarter than the average bear".

Sun 30 Oct
AFDA Open Day at Drysdale Funerals
33 National Park Rd Nambour
12 noon to 3pm

Especially mark this event on your calendar on 30th October, 2011 between 12 noon and 3.00 pm and take a little of your time to drop into the Drysdale Chapel and help to raise some funds for the students of the Nambour High School Special Education Unit.  There are 17 students involved with the Duke of Edinburgh awards and they need some financial support.

Have some refreshments, enjoy the display of art and craft from the students of the special education unit, flower display from the floral art group of the Anglican Church and a beautiful display of orchids from the Nambour Orchid Society.

While in the chapel, enjoy the ambience and you may like to ask some questions regarding funerals or prepaying your funeral in this relaxed atmosphere. Ask some questions about funerals that you have been reluctant to ask.  Drysdale Funerals are opening up their facility for a good and positive reason and this is an opportunity for the public to join with Christine and her staff to assist the Special Education Unit. Everyone welcome.

For more information, please phone Christine Jones on 5441 1366.  She and her staff would love to know that you are coming and that would also assist with catering.
