The cultural meeting is an open meeting for discussion on growing of orchids & sharing of growing tips & knowledge. We have regular speakers at our cultural meetings on a variety of subjects, eg. Fertilizer, shadehouse requirements, current trends & developments plus plant awards.
Flowering plants tabled by members each meeting are judged by members of our club who are judges registered with the Australian Orchid Council.
The club also co-ordinates social bus trips to local orchid nurseries & other societies.
Our club members compete in local orchid shows within the STOCQ region.

RED HAT SOCIETY - NAMBOUR CHAPTER

The Sugartown Sweet Hearts Inc. is a chapter of the Red Hat Society and is based in Nambour. It is a group of like minded women - over the age of 50 - who meet for social outings, lunch and dinner once a month, travel and for holidays. We believe that growing older is nothing short of a licence to wear what we like, eat what we want and do what we please while being mindful that we are all Ladies. It’s a ‘no guilt’ trip to concentrate a little more on enjoying life and a little less on organizing life.

In 2009 the Sugartown Sweet Hearts Inc of Nambour were asked to participate in the inaugural ‘Women’s Lifestyle Expo’€� as the representatives for all Red Hatters on the Sunshine Coast. The Expo was a great success. Last year we were again asked to participate and now, for a third year in a row, in 2011 we have been invited again. The Red Hatters from Nambour must definitely be doing something right!!

This year the Sunshine Coast ‘Women’s Lifestyle Expo‘ will be on Friday 9th & Saturday 10th September at the Lake Kawana Community Centre.

Application forms for membership to Sugartown Sweet Hearts will be available at our information exhibit at the Expo. Come along and meet the Ladies wearing their purple outfits all topped off with a beautiful red hat. We would love to meet you.
